A shooting took place at about noon today in Faliro, when a DIAS signaled a car to stop for a routine inspection. When the DIAS police officers approached the car, the driver backed up and knocked over one of the police motorcycles, while a back-seat passenger opened fire on the police officers before speeding off.
The police officers responded to the attack, as the car sped off. Prior to the shooting there was a report of a break-in which the police believed could be related to the shooting. According the police the two suspects appear to be of an elderly age, which has caused some concern to the police.
None of the DIAS police officers implicated in the shooting were injured in the attack. The police investigation so far has not come up with anything.
