A 62-year-old man lost his life due to a fire that broke out in the rooftop apartment of a closed hotel in the Kastela area of Piraeus. The preliminary report suggests that the victim was the hotel owner.

The unfortunate 62-year-old man was taken to the hospital in Voula, having suffered serious burns, where he was pronounced dead.

The fire brigade deployed 3 vehicles with 9 firefighters to extinguish the fire. An investigation has been launched by the fire brigade in order to determine the cause of the fire.

Fire claims 86-year-old woman in Aspropyrgos

Meanwhile, an 86-year-old woman was tragically burned alive when her 25-square-meter shack in Aspropyrgos went up in flames in the early hours on Friday.

The Fire Brigade reported that the dwelling’s interior was complete destroyed by the fire and that an investigation has been ordered in order to determine the cause of the fire.

54-year-old fire victim in Komotini

A 54-year-old man succumbed to severe burns he suffered from a fire that broke out in an abandoned OAED warehouse in Komotini early in the morning on Friday.

The Fire Brigade found the man in the warehouse courtyard and it appears that he was using as the abandoned warehouse as shelter. The police and medical examiner have ruled our foul play, while the Fire Brigade will determine the cause of the fire.

Fire in Thessaloniki almost claims 54-year-old woman

A 54-year-old woman residing in Kato Toumba of Thessaloniki was saved at the last moment, when a fire broke out in her apartment. Luckily she was able to escape and call for help, as the fire completely ravaged the apartment interior.

The woman revealed that the fire started from a candle which she had lit for warmth, as her electricity supply had been cut off due to unpaid bills. This is the third fire in Thessaloniki in recent times.
