The courts acquitted nine DELTA police officers who were accused of invading the premises of the Network for Political and Social Rights and the Network for Social Support of Refugees and Migrants in Exarchia, on the 5th of May in 2010.

According to the report, the accused police officers violently entered the premises and caused serious injuries on those who were present at the time and extensive damage to the building itself. The court judge acquitted the nine officers because he deemed the defendants were not sufficiently identified as committing the attack.

The NGO responded to the acquittal, which it characterized as a “blatantly biased decision” and in its written statement explained that “the courts completely ignored all evidence and went as far as criminalizing the victims of the attack”.
