The government and the troika appear to have come to a preliminary agreement regarding the fate of defense industry EAS, after the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos met with Olli Rehn and other European officers.

If a final agreement is made and announced by the 17th of December, when the next Euroworking Group is scheduled to take place, then Greece will finally collect a one-billion-euro loan installment that was due in July.

The government expects the troika to return to Athens next week, when all outstanding matters will be discussed in principle. Mr. Samaras’ hope is to address all these issues by January.
