The extreme weather front with which winter made a spectacular entrance yesterday will persist for a couple more days in Greece, with the strong winds causing many problems throughout the country. Fallen trees, branches and other debris were the main problem, blocking roads and causing traffic jams.

Maritime transportation is also severely affected, with ships in the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio remaining docked for a second day, with the Services to Aegina in the Argosaronic being the only exception. The Agia Marina – Nea Styra, Volos – Sporades, Kavala – Prinos and Thasos – Keramoti lines will not operate. Likewise, the Rio – Antirio ferry boat service will not operate.

Anyone planning to travel by sea today is strongly urged to contact their travel agent and port authorities for the latest updates and details regarding cancellations and replacement services.
