The Financial Police Subdirectorate performed a series of inspections in night clubs and restaurants in various areas in Attica over the weekend and noted a significant increase of tax evasion.

During the inspections in Athens, one night club was found to not have issued 13,578 euros of receipts for alcoholic drinks and flower trays. The police arrested the 33-year-old Albanian club manager and 44-year-old Greek fund managed over unpaid VAT bills. The police are currently seeking the 80-year-old nightclub owner.

In the inspections carried out in Athens over the weekend, at one night club it was revealed that two employees had not been listed in the special register of newly recruited employees (EBKNP). A café in Korydallos was found to not have listed two employees in the EBKNP register and not have health certificates for three employees.

According to the announcement of the Financial Police, the relevant fines will be imposed by the local tax offices, insurance funds and labor inspectorate.
