The municipal authorities of Naousa and Florina have decided to suspend the operation of all school in their jurisdiction today, citing the deterioration of weather conditions and the lack of funding provided for heating.

According to the Mayor of Naousa, who participated in the board meeting of the Regional Union of Municipalities in Central Macedonia, the third installment for heating was only just approved, however the funds are not enough to cover the needs of the 54 schools and 5,000 students in his jurisdiction.

The Municipality of Florina also issued a similar statement, explaining that the primary and secondary schools in Florina will not operate due to the adverse weather conditions in the greater region.
