The 11 independent members of Parliament will soon have greater powers at their disposal, after the Legal Council of State approved their application to form their own Parliamentary Group.

According to Ta Nea MP from Fthiotida Nikos Stavrogiannis is tipped to be the group’s president. The other independent MPs set to join the group are Yannis Kourakis, Christos Aidonis, Andreas Loverdos, Nikos Nikolopoulos, Odysseas Voudouris, Paris Moutsinas, Theodoros Parastatidis, Mimis Androulakis, Giorgos Kasapidis and Markos Bolaris.

It is not yet known whether the Theodora Tzakri will join the group on independents, after she was recently ousted from PASOK for voting in favor of SYRIZA’s vote of no confidence.
