The ERT employees, who were removed from the ERT HQ premises in Agia Paraskevi by the police on Thursday, held a rally outside the building on Mesogion Avenue at 4pm, determined to return inside. Many people showed up to support the ERT employees and by 5pm traffic on Mesogion Avenue was completely cut off.

Amongst the supporters were many union leaders and MPs, including KKE’s Spyros Halvatzis and SYRIZA’s Rena Dourou. The ousted employees set up a makeshift broadcasting studio outside the ERT HQ and broadcasted a news bulletin at 9pm via the ET3 and ertopen websites.

Sports editor Nikos Korovilas, who was inside when the police stormed the ERT HQ, spoke to vima.gr explained that he remained on site with a technician to be present for the police investigation. Mr. Korovilas is one of two employees still inside and has vowed to stay “as long as I can”.

According to Mr. Korovilas the police officers were not only unable to find any damages, but they were rather impressed with the excellent condition and cleanliness of the building and its equipment.
