The security measures of the courts on Evelpidon Street appear to be severely lacking, since the defendant in a case involving narcotics attacked the secretary of the 28th investigative judge with a knife today in court.

The attack took place when the defendant was about to state his plea, on the ground floor of building number 10 at the Athens First Instance Courts, where the investigative judges’ offices are housed.

Despite assurances from the authorities, the situation at the courts has not seemingly improved. A similar attack took place in the courts last year, when the defendant in a murder trial was the victim of an attack.
