The General Secretary of Public Revenue Haris Theoharis has requested a list from the Ministry of Labor, in order to carry out a series of crosschecks for the autumn cleaning of the Taxisnet data-base.
The Ministry of Labor’s data has shown that about the tax identification numbers of 514,081 deceased taxpayers still remain active. In many cases it appears that the relatives of the deceased did not make the relevant declaration to their tax offices. This has resulted in tax services sending out invoices to taxpayers who passed away in the mid-1970s.
Mr. Theoharis’ goal is to use the Ministry of Labor’s list in order to carry out crosschecks so that deceased taxpayers are removed from the Ministry of Finances’ database.
