The meeting originally arranged to take place on Friday the 1st of November at 5pm between the Deputy Minister of Public Radio and Television Pantelis Kapsis and representatives of ERT employee union POSPERT has been cancelled.
Rumors suggested that another meeting which had been organized for today in order to discuss options for a peaceful evacuation of the ERT HQ, which has been occupied since June.
The government requires the evacuation of ERT’s HQ in Agia Paraskevi so that the interim public television station EDT may operate as necessary. The problems with the EDT channel suggest that it will be unable to cover the Greek EU presidency, as required, with some government officials considering cooperation with ERT!
The President of POSPERT P. Kalfagiannis commented that “there is no way we will admit we have been fired and go home”.
