On Wednesday morning, the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis was invited by Mega Channel to respond to the revelation via about the “Evangelismos” hospital being left without a CT scanner.

The Minister explained that “machines break down” and that the CT scanner will be repaired shortly, before taking the opportunity to address criticism against his work. Doctors claim that the delays in purchasing a new CT scanner have resulted in the hospital having to rent the expensive machinery.

Mr. Georgiadis responded that “we will not shut down private businesses” and that the president of employee union at the hospital Ilias Sioras made the allegations because he is a communist!

When the doctors explained that private diagnostic centers are replacing public primary healthcare services, to which the Minister of Health cynically responded that “the private healthcare systems are more advantageous for us”.

The Minister of Health further added that “it is not the time to start a fuss, strike or stake claims, it is time to work, the country is facing bankruptcy, the homeland has nothing more to offer, nobody is having a good time today”.
