From the stand in Parliament, the Minister of Justice Charalambos Athanasiou criticized the media and representatives of parliamentary groups who turned the Golden Dawn case “into a show”.

Mr. Athanasiou reiterated the Prime Minister’s order to quickly investigate the case and asserted that “certain media outlets overdid it and without any knowledge of the case file said various things, interpreting the Penal Code at will and turning this matter into a show”.

The Minister of Justice also stated that “Justice moved swiftly and prudently and the weapons it currently has at its disposal are the ones provided by the democratic system of Justice.

Prior to the Minister, ANEL MP Chrysoula Maria Giatagana criticized “certain television channels that were given licenses for free and certain well-paid parrots turned against the judges and prosecutors, on how they did their job in the Golden Dawn matter”.

Mrs. Giatagana also addressed the criticism against the police lately, due to the number of officers being prosecuted for misconduct and other serious charges.
