The former Cypriot Minister of the Interior Dinos Mihailidis has been detained, after testifying before the examiner for his involvement in the extensive money laundering scanda.

Mr. Mihailidis was extradited from Cyprus as one of the main divs in the money laundering operations orchestrated by former Greek National Defense Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos, which involved bribes from the purchase of Russian Tor-M1 weapons system.

In his 65-page deposition, the former Cypriot Minister claims that there is no proof of his involvement apart from Nikos Zigras testimony. Mr. Mihailidis attorney have requested that their client be cross-examined with Mr. Zigras.

Mr. Mihailidis’ son Michalis Mihailidis will soon be extradited and is also accused of participating in the money laundering, specifically for his dealings with wanted Syrian arms dealer Fouad al Zayat.
