Greece was defeated 92-88 by Croatia yesterday after two overtime periods and as such will not be progressing to the next phase of the EuroBasket competition in Slovenia.

Despite the enthusiasm of the Greek team, with “usual suspects” Bourousis and Spanoulis leading the way for Greece (21 and 18 points respectively), Andrea Trinchieri’s squad was unable to overcome the Croatian defense in the two overtime periods, after the regular game ended with both teams tied 70-70.

With Spanoulis fouled out early in the second overtime period, Kaimakoglou and Zisis tried their best, but unfortunately the Croats were more efficient in the crucial moments of the game and managed to finish at the top of the group.
