The Police investigation has concluded that a 35-year-old man in responsible for the murder and dismemberment of an elderly woman, whose body was discovered in a garbage bin in Rafina. According to the investigation, the 35-year-old topographer was motivated by financial and family disputes.
The 35-year-old grandson confessed that his grandmother was accidentally stabbed during a heated argument and he decided to dismember her body so that it was easier to dispose. The initial investigation did not reveal that the 35-year-old faced psychological problems.
The Police solved the case after determining the identity of the victim, thanks to evidence and information that was submitted by citizens after two separate appeals. The police even released a sketch of the victim as part of the appeal.
Experienced police officers suspected that a close family member was behind the gruesome murder, since the disposal of the body in the bin indicated an attempt to confuse the police. The elderly woman was discovered after the victim’s daughter, who also happened to be the 35-year-old’s mother, reported her missing.
