The Ministry of Labor announced that the first wave of inspections for undeclared labor took place on Sunday with 102 inspections of businesses across Greece, which resulted in fines being imposed for 29 undocumented employees.

The Ministry of Finances and the Financial Police have a combined force of 1,000 inspectors, who have been investigating allegations of undeclared work all over Greece since Sunday. The inspections are part of the Ministry’s resolve to combat undeclared labor.

According to the relevant legislation, the fine for each employee who has not been documented has been increased to 10,550 euros. Furthermore, these fines are imposed on the spot, with employers not having the right to a prior hearing.
