The president of DIMAR Fotis Kouvelis has been on the look out for new allies from the greater progressive political space. To that end, he has arranged to meet with the leader of the Agreement for New Greece and former PASOK officer, Andreas Loverdos.

In an interview published in the Sunday newspaper Proto Thema, Mr. Loverdos estimated that the DIMAR leader “is absolutely important in the effort to bring together centrist and center-left forces in order to crate an election front. His role is central”.

Mr. Loverdos also explained that this “election front” must form in the September or October and suggested in be called “Democratic Alignment”. He also didn’t consider Mr. Kouvelis’ reluctance to cooperate with PASOK to be an insurmountable difficulty.

Regarding a possible cooperation with current opposition leaders SYRIZA, Mr. Loverdos claimed that there are few people from SYRIZA with whom he could cooperate with, while estimating that SYRIZA’s multi-faceted nature would would work against them, if SYRIZA came into power.
