In his final remarks of his testimony, former Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos decided to “apologize” to the Greek people and PASOK voters, however not for the corruption and bribery charges he is being accused of, but rather the financial crisis plaguing Greece.

Mr. Tsohatzopoulos asked “the Greek people to have open mind, based on all the years we worked together and to accept the apology for what they are paying for today” and argued that “the people will work and they will rise again”.

The former minister warned “those who claim we harmed the public interest” and vehemently rejected bribery charges, while insisting that PASOK has orchestrated a conspiracy against him “in Parliament, the Internet and media”.

At the end of his closing remarks, the courts rejected his request to summon further witnesses, including the members of the Government Council of National Defense (KYSEA) during his tenure, as they were “unnecessary”.
