The leader of KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas met with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras this morning, at around 11 am at Maximos Halls, in order to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East.

Mr. Koutsoubas maintained that the participation of Greece in the American fight against Syria will be “costly”. The KKE general secretary also demanded that the air base in Souda, Crete be shut down and that no assistance be provided to American forces.

The meeting of the two leaders is part of the Communist Party’s initiative in response to the dramatic developments in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and the Middle East and the planned intervention in Syria. As part of the initiative, Mr. Koutsoubas met with the Iranian ambassador in Athens Behnam Behrouz and the ambassador of Cuba Osvaldo Martinez. Last week the KKE leader met with ambassadors of Russia and China.
