Representatives from Gazprom are in Athens to negotiate a reduction in the price of Russian natural gas with Greek natural gas provider DEPA, following the preliminary talks that took place in Moscow earlier in the summer.

The Greek side requested the reduction in the price of natural gas, after the company’s Deputy Chairman Alexander Medvedev admitted that prices for Greece were about 30% higher than EU averages. The Russian firm has justified these prices due to the remote geography of Greece and the country’s limited value.
