OLME seeking court action against teacher suspensions

Teacher federation OLME decided to seek court action against the Ministry of Education’s declaratory act which brings the suspension of hundreds of teachers. The federation has requested that all suspended teachers be at their schools on the 2^nd of September.

The federation’s board will convene today to determine its plans for a strike at the start of the new academic year on the 11^th of September. The local ELME teacher unions are to convene on the 4^th and 5^th of September, with the ELME presidents assembling on the 9^th of September to ratify their proposals.

At yesterday’s meeting it was also decided that OLME should support the ADEDY protest on the 29^th of August, which is scheduled to take place at 12:30 at Klafthmonos Square, as well as the protest at the International Fair in Thessaloniki on the 7^th of September.

Furthermore, it was decided to discuss coordinating with other federations and unions from both the private and public sector over the next few days.
