The trial of former Minister of National Defense Akis Tsohatzopoulos was interrupted on the second of the defendant’s testimony, after his attorney was expelled from the Felony Appeals Court.

The expulsion came during Mr. Tsohatzopoulos testimony, when Prosecutor Georgia Adilini asked about the origin of the “dirty money” with which the former Minister acquired real estate property for his daughter Areti Tsohatzopoulou.

Defence attorney Pagouropoulos reacted to the term “dirty money”, on the basis that the investigation has not been completed and as such there is no conclusive legal proof of any such money existing.

In response, the Court President requested that Mr. Pagouropoulos be expelled from the court, by police escort. This caused the reaction of defence attorney Lykourezos and sole Athens Bar Association representative Theodoros Mantas.

In the end Mr. Pagouropoulos was allowed back in the courtroom and Mr. Tsohatzopoulos is continuing his testimony.
