As part of its ongoing efforts to prevent crime, the police conducted an operation in the greater Kyparissia and Gargaliani region in west Messinia, during which 255 people and 161 vehicles were searched.
The police reported to have detained 60 people, of which 16 were arrested for a variety of charges: one was found to have an outstanding warrant for arrest, another for robbery, two for drug-related charged, one for unlawful possession of a weapon, one for incriminating documents, three for store permit violations, three for offering illegal employment and four immigrants who entered Greece unlawfully.
The operation resulted in documenting 45 high way code violations, three health and safety violations. The Police also reported that it confiscated one police baton, a small quantity of heroin and two pills.
