According to the time tables, the mobility scheme of employees of eight hospitals in Athens (Polyclinic, “Amalia Fleming”, “Patision”, “Agia Varvara” and the “Spiliopoulio”) and Thessaloniki (“Panagia”, Infectious Diseases Hospital and the Venereal and Skin Disease Hospital) must be implemented by the 15th of September.

Yesterday the National Health Operation Center dispatched coordinators to the eight hospitals, in order to document the patients and to arrange for their transfer to other clinics. As of today the eight hospitals will not be on call.

The call system of hospitals is scheduled to change on the 15th of September. All hospitals in Attica will be on 24-hour call every three working days, while military hospitals will participate in the measure.

Doctors and staff of public hospitals have reacted vehemently to the mobility measures, with unions vowing to increase their actions. Dimitris Varnavas, president of the doctor union OENGE, stated that “even in war zones the announcement of evacuating hospitals causes goosebumps”.
