The Deputy Minister of Public Radio and Television Pantelis Kapsis revealed to Vima 99.5 that the new public broadcasting service NERIT will be established within 2013.

Mr. Kapsis also stated that “the law guarantees that we will cut the umbilical chord between the government and public television, so that it is an independent mechanism. The Minister also explained that the government I not involved with recruitments m but that everyone hired will be examined.

The interim public television station “DT” began broadcasting a live show, after weeks of reruns. Mr. Kapsis claimed that by next week the morning show will be extended to four hours and that soon enough there will also be news programs.

Mr. Kapsis also pleaded ERT and POSPERT employees and the opposition parties to cooperate in order to set up the new public broadcasting service.
