About 600 taxpayers face with additional taxes of 200 to 1,000 euros, after being selected for an audit. According to a report by the “Naftemporiki” newspaper, the additional taxes amounted to 100,000 euros.

The tax services system automatically contacts taxpayers for an audit, after the submission of tax returns. So far 4,000 taxpayers have been called out to provide documentation, with 600 paying further taxes.

The tax services intend to investigate about 100,000 taxpayers, with the main focus on employees who declare revenue from freelance work, taxpayers with high medical, occupational or loan expenses and traders and merchants who have significant tax returns.
