Documentary maker Alinda Dimitriou passed away on Tuesday evening at the age of 78. The director was well-known for her leftist political ideology.

Dimitriou worked on a number of documentaries, including a trilogy on the role of women during the resistance, the civil war and the dictatorship, which included “The Girls of the Rain”, “Among the Rocks” and “Birds in the Mire”.

In an interview for Vima in 2012, Dimitriou stated she invests “in simple people, in people and in teams ‘without a voice’, those are the ones I try to enlighten with m movies”.
