The government has announced its plans of restructuring troubled State companies Greek Defense Systems (EAS), Greek Vehicle Industry (ELVO) and mining and metallurgical company LARKO, with the assistance of specialized, independent consultants.

The government wants to minimize the cost of operation, in order to be in compliance with EU regulations on government subsidies. According to the announcement, the overall goal is to prepare the companies so that they can be privatized in 2014, or at least part of their assets.
