After it failed to carry out food and clothing distribution “for Greeks only” a few days before Easter, Golden Dawn is at it again and is attempting another racist charity event at Attiki square. The event is to take place on Wednesday afternoon, with the party’s Parliamentary Group being present.

The previous food and clothing distribution event that Golden Dawn attempted was denied by Mayor of Athens Kaminis, who dubbed it the event a “charity of hate” which “provokes every democratic citizen”.

Despite the ban, Golden Dawn attempted to carry out its event, causing the intervention of the police, while Golden Dawn MP Germenis struck a 12-year-old girl, assaulted the Mayor and then threatened to use a gun at a municipal welfare center, before Mr. Kaminis’ security detail removed the Golden Dawn MP from the center.

The Mayor Kaminis has been in touch with the Minister of Public Order Nikos Dendias and requested that the Police protect the square so that such an event does not take place. Mr. Kaminis explained that if the party wants to distribute clothing and food, they are free to do so from their offices, as they have no authorization to use any public spaces in the city of Athens.
