The government Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Evangelos Venizelos departed for Ankara this morning, where he will meet his Turkish counterpart Ahmed Davutoglu. Mr. Venizelos’ visit will last one day.

The schedule includes a face-to-face meeting between the two Ministers and a meeting of representatives from both Ministries, followed by a press conference with the two Ministers.

The Turkish press reports that the main topic will be the Cypriot issue, with the Turkish side opening the subject of search for oil and natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean. It also rumored that cooperating in the tourist sector is on the agenda.

After the recent cabinet reshuffle, Ahmed Davutoglu contacted Mr. Venizelos to congratulate him on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
