The secretary of the government Takis Baltakos was recently rumored to have told the coalition government’s ministers to either vote for the controversial austerity bill or there will be elections in August.

Mr. Baltakos confirmed the rumors and explained that he “said that exactly and I also told them not to play games with Antonis Samaras’ determination”. He then warned that the same dilemma will apply to all upcoming drafts: “If an essential article is not voted, then elections will be called straight away”.

When asked if any measures need to taken, in light of the recent furor caused by Golden Dawn MPs during the discussion of SYRIZA’s proposal for ERT, Mr. Baltakos claimed that no measures are necessary as “it’s a matter of being serious”.

Mr. Baltakos also repeated government spokesman Kedikoglou’s statement of two extremes, “which SYRIZA might not accept, but are proven wrong by their actions”.
