The Police and Coast Guard have launched a joint-operation near the border with Albania in order to locate and apprehend two escaped convicts from Trikala prison.

The Police are focusing their search in the region between Sagiada, Mourgana in the Tsamanta hills and the mountainous areas of Souli. The police forces are supported by EKAM and OPKE units, frogmen and at least two helicopters.

The Police believe that the two escaped convicts in question are Marion Kola and Ilir Koupa. A thermal camera located two men moving through a remote are in Kato Zalongo, near the river Kalamas.

Investigations in Aetoloakarnania revealed a car from Nafpaktia, thought to have been used by the two escaped convicts.
