Mitsotakis to request extension for mobility plans
The new Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis has confirmed rumors that he will request an extension for the deadline regarding the mobility of 12,500 employees in the public sector, as initially agreed upon with the troika representatives.
According to the deal, the Minister would have to submit a list of 12,500 public sector employees by the end of June. Most of the employees will come from local government and education. Mr. Mitsotakis will likely support his case by focusing on the closure of ERT and the 2,700 dismissals.
The Minister of Finances Yannis Stournaras also hinted towards such a request yesterday, after leaving Maximou Hall. Sources from the Ministry of Finances suggest that a request of an extension will only be successful if the troika is pleased with everything else.
