According to the Minister of Public Order Nikos Dendias, Greece is determined to vote against the Dublin II Regulation. The agreement provides that the country of first entry in the EU is responsible for determining asylum status. This has resulted in non-legal immigrants being sent to Greece, regardless of where they are arrested within the EU.

According to the report by “Ta Nea”, the Minister of Public Order revealed Greece’s intentions to vote against the Regulation, at an event organized by citizen movement KIPOKA regarding immigration. Malta, which along with Greece receives about 90% of Europe-bound immigration, is also expected to vote against the agreement.
