According to the Ministry of Labor, the average pension paid out in Greece was estimated to be 694.56 euros, while the average supplementary pension was 178.49 euros.

The data was collected from the “Helios” system for monitoring and paying the pensions of 93 funds. In June 2013 the Ministry estimates that there will be 2,714,034 pensioners with an average monthly income of 907.65 euros (before taxes).

In June 2013 a total of 4,407,288 pensions were paid out, of which 2,884,347 were full pensions and 1,517,411 were supplementary pensions. The overwhelming majority of pensions are paid out to Greeks, with only 9,099 pensions going out to foreign nationals.

The total sum paid out was 2,281,747,514.08 euros. The majority of full pensions are in the 500-1,000 euro bracket (supplementary pensions mostly fall in 0-500 euro bracket), with a significant portion of full pensions (29%) exceeding 1,000 euros.

The greatest number of pensions is paid out in Attica (1,692,036) and Central Macedonia (724,087). Thessaly is in third place with 304,552 pensions and Western Greece with 258,247 pensions.
