The Deputy Minister of Culture Kostas Tzavaras announced that the grand opening of the Archeological Museum of Pyrgos is expected to take place in mid July. Mr. Tzavaras also discussed the work on the holy temple of Agios Nikolaos, which is the metropolis of Pyrgos.

As the museum is being prepped for the next month, the cases that will house ancient artifacts are being delivered and arranged. The general secretary of Culture Lina Mendoni explained that “our goals is to have a significant part of the exhibition complete over the next four or six weeks” and added that “people might not know Greece, but they know Olympia”.

Work at the museum will carry on, as the entrance to the archeological site is scheduled to be moved to the ancient entrance, in autumn. Furthermore, the dig on the site has revealed the ancient temple’s Gymnasium and a smaller temple on the side of the river Kladeos, which was discovered a year ago.
