The Supreme Judicial Council has announced that it has appointed the two new financial prosecutors Panagiotis Athanasiou and Galinos Bris, who will replace outgoing prosecutors Peponis and Mouzakitis.

Before their new appointment, Panagiotis Athanasiou was an Appeal Court prosecutor, with Galinos Bris as his peer deputy. Both prosecutors have experience in controversial cases, such as the Siemens, TOR-M1 and Tsohatzopoulos scandals.

Mr. Athanasiou was the first to take up the preliminary investigation for the C4I-Siemens scandal, received the applications from Munich prosecution and traveled to Germany for the testimony of company “treasurer” Reinhard Siekaczek. Mr. Bris is supervising the criminal investigation, which has yet to be complete.
