Today’s court session of the Akis Tsohatzopoulos trial began with a bit of tension when the former Minister of National Defense claimed that his trial “political” and that he has been “politically persecuted for the past three years”.

The prosecutor Panagiotis Panagiotopoulos told the Mr.Tsohatzopoulos that the trial was “purely penal” and that “if we have to high-light one aspect, it is the spiritual, the moral aspect of the trial”. Mr. Panagiotopoulos also added that the trial’s outcome will “demonstrate how political divs must act”. The former Minister, visibly emotional, interrupted the prosecutor to comment that he has “been through a lot over the past year”.

Regarding the defense’s demands, both prosecutors Panagiotopoulos and Georgia Adilini explained that it was not necessary to summon the members of the Government Council of National Defense (KYSEA) at present, hinting that they might be summoned at a later point.
