The Minister of Public Order Nikos Dendias met with Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom who is responsible for EU internal affairs on Tuesday morning. After the meeting, Mr. Dendias guided Mrs. Malmstrom through the asylum committee facilities which are adjacent to the Ministry, on the corner of Mesogion and Katechaki avenues.
Mrs. Malmstrom noted that she was satisfied with what she has seen, but despite the very positive steps forwards, there are still a number of issues that require further attention. The commissioner insisted that the EU is determined to assist Greece, since it receives the greatest waves of migration to the Europe.
Mr. Dendias asserted that the asylum facilities are model European standard and underlined the importance of the EU’s support and funding in dealing with the immigration problem.
