The two financial prosecutors Grigoris Peponis and Spyros Mouzakitis have informed the Supreme Court in writing that they do not wish to have their appointment renewed. The Judicial Council will convene to decide whether to renew their appointment or not.
In any case, the two prosecutors have sent the first 30 case files they are handling to the supervisor of the Athens Appeal Prosecution and have come to an agreement with the supervising prosecutor of Financial Crime, deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court Nikos Pantelis.
Peponis and Mouzakitis refuse to renew their appointment due to the introduction of a “corruption prosecutor” whose jurisdiction overlaps to a great extent with those of the financial prosecutor.
