The Greek-based branches of three Cypriot banks – the Bank of Cyprus, CPB (former Laiki) and Elliniki Trapeza – will open for business today, after they were formally acquired by Piraeos Bank yesterday. The branches will be open for all transaction.

The deposits of the customers of the Greek branches of the three Cypriot banks are guaranteed and not liable for any haircut or emergency levy decided upon in Cyprus. Customers and account-holders can get further information at 182838 and +30.210.32.88.000.

After yesterday’s merger, the Piraeos Bank Group is now the second largest banking group in Greece, after the Ethniki Bank Group. The new group has assets worth 95 billion euros, deposits over 52 billion euros, loans worth 70 billion euros and employs over 24,000 people at over 1,660 branches in Greece.
