The Minister of Finances G. Stournaras and Minister of Administrative Reform Antonis Manitakis are to meet with the troika representatives on Monday. On Sunday an emergency meeting with the troika representatives was held, lasting about 90 minutes.
According to Ministry of Finances sources “everything is still open” with decisions to be made over the next couple days, before the PM’s meeting with the troika representatives. On Sunday’s meeting, the actions and plans of each Ministry were reviewed.
The main issues faced by the government are the (“March milestone”) restructuring of the government with new organization charts and layoffs. The troika representatives have been updated on the layoffs front and will later have the opportunity to discuss issues and ideas with Mr. Manitakis.
The unified property tax was also discussed, with the possibility of extending its effect furthermore, since the troika considers it the most efficient tax-collecting scheme. Government officials attending the meeting estimated the fiscal gap of 2015-2016 to be between 2.3 and 4 billion euros. Measures for this period will likely be announced n June.
