The Government Council on Administrative Reform will convene later today, with changes at ministries at the top of the agenda. At a previous meeting new organization charts were agree upon for the ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Interior, Health, Shipping, Tourism, Growth and the former General Secretariat of Press.
The changes can bring a 32% to 50% cut in administrative structure, with an estimated reduction of fiscal costs of 7% to 16%. At the same an effort is under way to eliminate overlaps between ministries, to improve cooperation and efficiency. The new organization charts will be evaluated by the troika in order to secure the next installment.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Growth will meet the representatives of the national union of newly-established businesses (EENE) at the Ministry of Growth. The EENE was set up to promote entrepreneurship focused on innovation and rapid growth. They focus on five aspects of Greek entrepreneurship, namely agricultural economy and gastronomy, culture and tourism, energy, technology and biomedicine as well as shipping.
