The nation-wide federation of teachers (DOE) has requested an audience with the leaders of political parties, via a letter they sent on Wednesday. Their intention is to inform them “on the explosive situation created by the new disciplinary law and the Ministry of Education’s plans on evaluation-manipulation”.
In their letter they address all parliamentary political parties, except Golden Dawn. In their letter, they request audiences with party leaders, to fund out what each party’s plan is regarding the new disciplinary amendments, which “create a climate of insecurity and fear to educators”, while the Ministry’s Presidential Decree on teacher evaluation “takes education back to the ‘good old days’ of ‘inspectors’ and ‘inspectorism’”.
