In a televised interview on Skai TV, former PASOK minister Andreas Loverdos controversially likened extreme right-wing party Golden Dawn to a “Greek Hezbollah”. Mr. Loverdos also considers Golden Dawn to be “the first authentic movement since the political changeover” because they “are active in the big issues” and “create trust”.
Mr. Loverdos explained that “on the big issues, like immigration, the black market, lack of security and policing, the Greek Hezbollah is being active, creating trust and seeing its popularity rise”. He further commended Golden Dawn for engaging “authentic” political problems through an “activist way”.
The former PASOK minister noted thought that “when putting aside their political imperative, Golden Dawn resembles the other opposition parties; they say whatever SYRIZA is saying”. Mr. Loverdos concluded that “you do not steal their strength when you condemn them”.
