The Boards of Directors of ESIEA and EPIEA announced that they have extended the ongoing strike of journalists in public media for a further 24 hours. The strike is effective from 6am Wednesday to 6am Thursday. The striking journalist unions demand that new collective labor agreements be signed.
The strike affects journalists working in public entities, civil service, local government, ERT, the Parliament television station, APE-MPE. GGE-GGE and the radio stations “Athina 9.84”, “Kanali 90.4” and “Epikinonia FM”.
The employees of the Athens-Macedonia News Agency (APE-MPE) have demanded that the strike be called off, unless the union includes all sectors. In their statement they explain that the “unions must pressure private media to participate, without whom there is no point demanding collective agreements”.
