The Ministry of Finances’ electronic tax auditing system “Elenxis” will be online in June. Even though the system is ready, it has not yet been fully implemented for operational use, nor have any crosschecks of tax data begun. More importantly though, nobody has been trained to use it yet.

The training will last about a week, however due to a lack of suitable trainers; many delays have been noted, since training groups involve 15-member groups. Optimistic estimations predict the system will be operational in April, however ministry executives consider June a more realistic date.

The system’s efficiency has already been proven, as during its beta testing, it located 1,750 individuals who had not declared the income from the sale of real estate property. Sources indicate that special investigation teams have been formed to confirm the findings of tax evasion.
