A protest for the tragic death of an immigrant salesman on train tracks in Thisio on Friday night has been organized on Thursday at 2pm outside the Municipal Council by KEERFA, the Movement United Against Racism and Fascist Threat.
According to witnesses, the 37-year-old Senegalese father of two was chased by Municipal Police to a dead-end, jumped over the fence and fell on the electrified train tracks. Cause of death has not yet been determined.
The body of the 37-year-old remained on the tracks for some time, as dozens of African salesmen approached the area to mourn. Clashes with the police broke up, leading to a few arrests.
KEERFA stresses that the council is “not only denying any liability for the death of the salesman after the municipal police’s operation in Thisio, but also proves its guilt by attempting to cover this racist crime from the Police”.
